2003 Summer Organ Festival

The Spreckels Organ is an outdoor 4,518-pipe organ that has been in continuous use since 1915

Spreckels Organ Society
Carol Williams, Artistic Director
Organ Pavilion, Balboa Park, San Diego

On August 25th, Hector, along with Carol Williams, brought the 3,300 concert attendees to their feet with a stunning performance. Hector was playing the Roland® Atelier® AT-90s, while Carol was on the Austin Pipe Organ. A perfect match, for a grand performance. Hector demonstrated the versatility of the Atelier with performances of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Bach's Fugue in G and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Together they meshed pipe & orchestral Atelier with Guilmant's Symphony No. 1 for Organ and Orchestra, Op. 42. And for an encore; Widor's Toccata.

We wish to thank the Spreckels Organ Society's photographer Robert Harrington for permission to use some of his wonderful, during performance, images. (Other images, by Dave Van de Water)

The day after the concert, a visit to Mexico was the order of the day for friends

A rough way to travel, but Lieve seems to be enjoying it
